“To the world you may be one person; but to one person you may be the world.”
– Dr. Seuss

She has shown nothing but kindness, protection and generosity to my children. She watched me bring a baby home from the hospital, then another, knowing her job was getting that much more difficult yet she never complained, only took them into her open, waiting arms. She talks about them with a fondness only a parent knows; equal parts complaint and love. And she looks at old photos and is filled with a yearning nostalgia that comes from unconditional love. After ten years she is no longer a nanny but family, a doting aunt that will remind them of the time he wanted to marry his sister, she would hold onto the tiniest piece of candy because she didn’t want it to end, he would cry when she would leave for the day, when they marry.
